Schedule Updates

The off ice conditioning, goalie skills and on ice skills schedule pages have been updated.  All three will begin this week.  Please check the tabs on the left hand side for more information. 
 

U14 Coach Announced and a 99 Coaching Addition

March 7th, 2011

Tom Ford, a Lead Instructor with Dynamic Skating, will be taking over the reins as the Head Coach of the 99 Braves team for the upcoming season.  Open positions at Forward and Defense.  2nd tryout set for Thursday 3/17, 7:00pm in E. Boston.  OK to show for only 2nd if missed the first. As an independent coach, Tom will bring his vast knowledge and passion for hockey to further develop the players involved with the 99 team.  As one of the better teachers of the game, Tommy will also be a member of the Braves Player Development Team to utilize his talents across the organization.  You can contact Tom at dynamictf@gmail.com

John LaPiana will bring his 10 plus years of coaching experience to the U14 team starting in the 2011 -2012 season.  A demanding coach that teaches the fundamentals of the game, John will have the task of fine tuning a group of players looking for a full season option at the Bantam level.   You can contact John at jcl@claimresourcegroup.com

 

New Coaches and Teams for the 2011-2012 Season

The 2011 - 2012 season will feature some exciting new changes to the Middlesex Braves lineup.  We are happy to have John McLean return for another year to coach the Bantam Major 97 team.  John, who is the Boston Bruins Skating Coach and owner of Dynamic Skating, coached the 96 team this past season to a league championship and bid to the USA Hockey National tournament.   

The Mite Major team (2003 & younger) will be coached by Gino Khachadourian.  Gino comes to the Braves with an extensive coaching background, he has been the Assistant Varsity Coach at The Pingree School for the past 14 years and is currently active within USA Hockey and the Mass Satellite Program.  Gino has taught skills for numerous town hockey programs, such as Winchester, Stoneham, East Boston, Cambridge and Lexington Youth Hockey.  Prior to joining the Braves, Gino was a head coach with the Top Gun program for the past 8 years.  Gino attended and played his hockey at Salem St.  He currently lives in Winchester with his wife and three children. 

In addition to the above additions, the Braves will be adding a Mite Development team and U10, U12 & U14 teams. 

 

HOCKEY NORTHEAST 2011-2012

It is with great anticipation that we announce the formation of Hockey Northeast for the 2011-2012 hockey season. The new league will feature USA Hockey National Bound registered teams playing at the Tier 1 AAA Elite level.  

The Connecticut Bobcats, Dual State Huskies, Greater Boston Jr. Bruins, Middlesex Braves, Neponset Valley River Rats, Northstar Selects, Rhode Island Saints, Valley Jr. Warriors and Western Mass Blades will be the founding programs competing in Hockey Northeast 

HNE was formed to strengthen the player development and competition that is expected from its founding members. Hockey Northeast will include highly competitive divisions at each age level, from Mite to Bantam Major, with an anticipated 32 game regular season schedule as well as league playoffs.

96 BRAVES NATIONAL BOUND!

November 15th, 2010

The 1996 Braves earned a trip to the Nationals after going 3-0 in round robin play of the Mass Select Playoffs and a hard earned win against the Neponset River Rats in the finals this past Sunday. 

Despite losing one of thier 5 defensemen in the first five minutes to a boarding call, the Braves were able to hold off the River Rats attack ending the first period scoreless.

An action packed second was kicked off by the Braves' Jack McCarthy, scoring at 15:40, assisted by Nate Knox and Mat Harris. Zach Malatesta added what would become the winning goal at 7:59, assisted by Ara Nazarian and John McLean. The River Rats answered back at 5:27 making the score 2-1.  However, 38 seconds later the Braves answered right back with Jack McCarthy's second goal of the game, assisted by Knox and Matt Chisholm.

Nazarian scored the 4th and final goal of the game, assisted by Andrew Cross in the third.

Josh Eagan held the pipes for the Braves. 

Goaltenders Eagan, Richie D'Ortenzio and Max Barr, defensmen Nick Rolli, Malatesta, Jake McCarthy, Cross and Harris and forwards McLean, Nazarian, Tom Koopman, Knox, McCarthy and Chisholm will head to Hackensak NJ March 30th - April 3rd 2011 to compete in the USA Hockey Nationals.

Coaches and Managers - Reporting Game Results

The Reporting Game Results page has been updated to include all level coordinators.  Regardless if you were the home or away team, you should be reporting your score to the appropriate coordinator.  More details and instructions can be found under the RGR page.

 

ALL PRACTICE SCHEDULES UPDATED

Practice schedules for all teams have been updated on their team page.  Practices will be starting the week of September 6.
